Equipping the Needy Initiative Assesses Urgent Needs of Displaced Persons in Giwa Local Government

The Equipping the Needy Initiative recently conducted an assessment visit to internally displaced persons in Giwa Local Government Area, Kaduna State, following persistent attacks attributed to armed Fulani herdsmen.Many of the affected individuals have been forcibly displaced from their ancestral villages, which have now been abandoned due to insecurity.

Among the displaced are widows and widowers who are currently facing severe hardship, Unable to afford house rent in urban areas and unable to return to their villages, they remain in a state of uncertainty and vulnerability.

The visit was carried out to identify the most pressing needs of the victims, with the aim of developing timely and targeted interventions to alleviate their suffering.

During the visit, the team interacted directly with the displaced persons, listened to their stories, and documented critical areas of need, including shelter, food, and basic livelihood support.Staff members who represented the organization during the enquiry visit were Christiana Arams and Ephraim David, who gathered firsthand information and photographic documentation to aid the organization’s response planning.

The Equipping the Needy Initiative is led by its Chief Executive Officer, Benedict Aliku, whose leadership continues to drive humanitarian outreach to vulnerable communities affected by violence and displacement.The organization has reaffirmed its commitment to responding compassionately and strategically, as plans are underway to mobilize resources and implement interventions that will bring relief and hope to the displaced persons.
