ETNI Installs Security Alarm Systems Across Four Plateau Community plateau State, Nigeria

The Equipping the Needy Initiative (ETNI) has successfully completed the installation of modern security alarm systems in four vulnerable communities across Plateau State, marking a major step toward enhancing grassroots security and early-warning capabilities.The beneficiary communities—Kwi (Riyom LGA), Mandarkeng and Mushere (Bokkos LGA), Kura Falls (Barkin Ladi LGA), and Bwoi (Mangu LGA)—were selected based on their pressing security challenges, including recurring threats of violence and increasing vulnerability among women, children, and the elderly.According to the Plateau State Coordinator, Gagman Boppiye Ishaya, the initiative reflects ETNI’s commitment to safeguarding lives in high-risk communities.

These alarm systems serve as both deterrents to potential attackers and as vital early-warning tools that can save lives,” he noted.The Community-Driven Implementation project was executed in close collaboration with village heads, community leaders, and local residents. Key activities included:Community sensitization meetings to explain the purpose and benefits of the alarm systems.Selection of high-vulnerability villages based on need assessments.

Installation of alarm systems by trained ETNI personnel,Capacity-building sessions to teach residents how to operate and maintain the devices.Warm Reception and Impact presidents expressed deep appreciation, stating that the alarms have strengthened their confidence, reduced nighttime fear, and deterred potential intruders.

Community leaders described the intervention as timely, impactful, and life-preserving, reinforcing trust in ETNI’s mission to support marginalized populations.

A Model for Future Intervention the Executive Director of ETNI Benedict Aliku was commended for continuous leadership and support in driving security-focused humanitarian responses. The Plateau State Coordinator affirmed that the project stands as a model for future community protection.
