Equipping the Needy Initiative Intervenes With Food AND CASH Support for Displaced Persons in Giwa Local Government

following its recent needs assessment visit, the Equipping the Needy Initiative has returned to the internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Giwa Local Government Area, Kaduna State, to provide immediate relief through food and cash support.

The intervention comes in response to the findings of the earlier assessment, which revealed severe hardship among displaced persons and kidnap victims affected by persistent attacks attributed to armed Fulani herdsmen.

Many of the victims, including widows and widowers, were forced to abandon their ancestral villages and are unable to afford housing in the city or return home due to ongoing insecurity.

Acting on the directive of the organization’s Chief Executive Officer, Benedict Aliku, staff members of the Equipping the Needy Initiative visited the camp with food items and cash to help ease the burden on the displaced families. The support was aimed at addressing one of the most urgent needs identified during the assessment—access to basic food supplies.During the intervention visit, the team distributed the food items and cash to the beneficiaries and engaged with camp residents, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to standing with vulnerable communities in times of crisis. The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the timely assistance, describing it as a source of relief and encouragement amid their difficult circumstances. The intervention was carried out by Christiana Arams and Ephraim David, who also documented the outreach through photographs to support accountability and future planning. The Equipping the Needy Initiative continues to demonstrate compassion-driven humanitarian service, with plans underway for further interventions aimed at restoring dignity, hope, and stability to displaced persons affected by violence
