EQUIPPING THE NEEDY INITIATIVE HOLDS FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH IN PLATEAU STATE

A non-governmental organization, Equipping the Needy Initiative (ETNI), has organized a free medical outreach in Plateau State to provide essential health services to vulnerable and displaced persons. The outreach, held at Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi, offered various health services including blood pressure checks, hepatitis A and B testing, HIV testing, medical consultations, and counseling.

Speaking during the event, Christiana Jackson, the General Administration Officer of ETNI, said the initiative is part of the organization’s broader effort to address the health challenges faced by vulnerable populations affected by crises, poverty, and lack of access to healthcare.

As a result of their displacement, many of them are very sick but cannot afford hospital treatment. So, we decided to come today to provide that service. It’s all about humanitarian service, and this time it focuses on their health,” she explained. The Plateau State Coordinator of ETNI, Gagman Ishaya, commended the choice of venue, describing Plateau State Polytechnic Barkin Ladi as a strategic location to reach displaced communities in the area. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between NGOs and local institutions to bridge health disparities among vulnerable populations.“This is not the first or second time ETNI is intervening.

Each time Plateau experiences attacks, the organization requests information about victims and provides assistance — from hospital visits to food support in affected villages,” Ishaya stated. Also speaking, Dr. Wilson Bamkat, team lead of doctors from Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), appreciated the beneficiaries for their cooperation and orderly conduct during the outreach.Beneficiaries, including Dai Giang Lam and Noro Daliop, expressed gratitude to ETNI for the timely medical intervention, describing it as a great relief to their health and well-being.Meanwhile, as part of its corporate social responsibility, Equipping the Needy Initiative also distributed foodstuffs and seasoning cubes to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Barkin Ladi, further demonstrating its commitment to supporting communities affected by displacement.
